Thoughtful Permit Guidance

Plan Your Addition With Greater Clarity

A house addition often involves more than drawing new rooms. Local authorities may review the project’s relationship to the existing home, site, use, and applicable regulations. Ortiz Mexia Projects, Inc. combines residential architecture, interior design, and building permit procurement to help clients move through these considerations with a coordinated plan. In Los Angeles and the Roaring Fork Valley, that means guidance grounded in the jurisdictions where the firm works.

Frequently Asked Questions

When does a house addition require a permit?

Permit requirements depend on the project’s scope and the rules enforced by the relevant local jurisdiction. An addition that changes the building’s footprint, structure, systems, or occupied space commonly warrants review, but the exact requirements must be confirmed for the property. A design professional can help identify the approvals and documents applicable to the proposed work.
