This guide explains what to evaluate when choosing an architecture firm, with practical insight for homeowners considering custom homes, remodels, additions, interiors, or historically sensitive properties in Los Angeles and surrounding communities.

Explore architecture and design capabilities that can help California homeowners plan, personalize, permit, and complete residential projects.

Begin by comparing firms based on experience with your specific project type, not portfolio appearance alone. Review their design process, permitting support, consultant coordination, construction involvement, communication style, and approach to sustainability. Ask how they handle budgets, approvals, revisions, and contractor relationships. A strong fit should understand your goals and explain how its services will support the project from concept through completion.
